ModaLisboa and Portugal Fashoin undertake to join forces in promoting Portuguese fashion

Last Tuesday, September 11th, ModaLisboa Association, which organises ModaLisboa – Lisboa Fashion Week, and ANJE – National Association of Young Entrepreneurs, which organises Portugal Fashion, signed a cooperation agreement under the scope of their Portuguese fashion promotional activities. The ceremony was presided over by Portuguese Prime Minister, António Costa, who thus recognises not only the importance of this sector, with a direct impact on the economic context of the country and the promotion of an international image of modernity, but also the relevance of the two structuring projects in national fashion joining forces.
The agreement is aimed at uniting and enhancing the efforts of ModaLisboa and Portugal Fashion. The intention is to define strategies that contribute to the development of fashion, through harmonised campaigns for creating added value and competitive advantages for Portugal and for the sectors concerned, aimed at increasing national and international recognition. Under this framework, sales, exports and the degree of internationalisation of the labels and the professionals in the sectors involved will be increased, so that these campaigns can become larger in scale and consolidate international recognition.
The associations that signed the agreement believe that the institutionalisation of cooperation partnerships may contribute to a significant improvement in the initiatives developed, individually and collectively, and to leverage synergies between ModaLisboa and Portugal Fashion. This will all be through an alignment of strategies in order to reinforce the position of Portugal and its labels in the national and international market.
Regular meetings and information exchanges
To streamline compliance with the aims of the agreement and ensure real strategic cooperation, the signatories will meet regularly, promote the exchange of information between them and outline a business agenda. The cooperation between ModaLisboa and Portugal Fashion may extend to other entities or promoters with a relevant role in national fashion, aimed at increasing alignment of the strategic model in the sector. Under the scope of the protocol, efforts will be coordinated in order to establish a network of business contacts capable of generating business opportunities in this and other complementary sectors.
